Assistant Piano Instructor

Here is a list of responsibilities for the assistant piano instructor:

Instructional Planning

  1. Gather and keep an inventory of all tools necessary for instruction
  2. Set up all necessary equipment for piano instruction (including keyboards, power strips, white board, etc…)

Instructional Delivery

  1. Follow the directives of the Team Leader to maximize the effectiveness of the lesson

Learning Environment

  1. Perpetuate a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, to be creative, and to develop to their full potential
  2. Model, practice and reinforce age-appropriate rules and discipline using school-approved procedures; create and consistently use individual behavioral management plans as needed
  3. Ensure smooth operation of all classroom instructional functions without exceptions

Student Support & Culture

  1. Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students and administrators
  2. Participate in a PTA/PTO or awards ceremony showcasing the students’ playing ability

Education / Experience Requirements

  1. Pursuit of Bachelors Degree; Strong interest in music education
  2. Strong written, grammatical, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  4. Proven ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a diverse team of teachers and administrators

Personal Qualities

  1. Develops and maintains positive communications and working relationships with students, administrators, and team members by collaborating and maintaining a pleasant work attitude
  2. Openness to feedback and willing to take responsibility for student success
  3. Demonstrates persistence in overcoming and removing obstacles that impact student achievement

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience and education.
