Lead Piano Instructor

Instructional Planning

  1. Understand, communicate, and implement general music theories and practices for piano
  2. Possess the ability to play the piano
  3. Coordinate lesson plans with the supervisor

Instructional Delivery

  1. Emphasize a process-based approach to music instruction
  2. Eagerly learn new methods of instruction

Student Assessment

  1. Provide ongoing and timely feedback to students on their progress towards meeting expectations and achieving goals
  2. Complete all reports in a timely manner

Learning Environment

  1. Create and manage a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, to be creative, and to develop to their full potential
  2. Establish, model, practice and reinforce age-appropriate rules and discipline using school-approved procedures; create and consistently use individual behavioral management plans as needed

Student Support & Culture

  1. Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students and administrators
  2. Develop and use rubrics for evaluating student progress and performances
  3. Continually develop new ways to promote the culture of Skilled Musician LLC
  4. Participate in a PTA/PTO or awards ceremony showcasing the students’ playing ability

Education / Experience Requirements

  1. Bachelors Degree or higher preferred
  2. Experience working with the at-risk student population in some capacity preferred
  3. Strong written, grammatical, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  5. Proven ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a diverse team of teachers and administrators
  6. Knowledge of child development and demonstrate experience with executing planned lessons to meet the needs of each child

  1. Develops and maintains positive communications and working relationships with students, administrators, and team members by being collaborative and maintaining a pleasant work attitude
  2. Openness to feedback and willing to take responsibility for student success
  3. Demonstrates persistence in overcoming and removing obstacles that impact student achievement


Compensation is commensurate with experience and education.
